It is well known that patients with severe coronary atherosclerosis must undergo "bridge surgery" or implant a vascular stent to prevent acute myocardial infarction. However, the problem is that the patient may easily undergo vascular restenosis within half a year or one year after the above surgery, thereby causing acute myocardial infarction again, so vasodilation must be performed before the bypass surgery or implantation of the vascular stent (ie, The use of airbags to remove lipids deposited on the walls of blood vessels is known in the medical community as angioplasty. US medical device manufacturers have developed a new "applicator balloon" that can be "expanded" and maintained for a period of time by moving it through the patient's inguinal artery to the patient's blocked blood vessels. Since the balloon has been previously coated with a drug film, it mainly contains a drug for preventing vascular stenosis such as paclitaxel. This drug is effective in preventing the proliferation of vascular endothelial cells (which is the main cause of vascular restenosis). It is understood that there are currently two drugs that can prevent restenosis caused by implantation of vascular stents, namely paclitaxel and rapamycin, but the former is a natural drug, which is better than the latter in terms of safety and prevention of vascular restenosis. Therefore, paclitaxel is widely used as the main drug for drug-coated balloons.
