Korean engineers develop Braille smart watches

Release date: 2015-08-05

Most of us can check the time and read it at any time. But these simple tasks are very difficult for the blind, and they can't even be done. Although there are already many smart watches and e-books, there is still no significant problem solving.

Now South Korean engineers have announced that they have designed the world's first Braille smart watch for the blind.

The device name is Dot, and the device has a small unit that can be raised to allow the blind to read or perceive text. The device allows the blind to use the execution technique to read text messages or entire e-books.

The device also has a built-in motor that alerts the wearer to new information sent by the phone to the watch.

Eric Ju Yoon Kim, CEO of Dot, said that if blind people get messages from iOS devices, they can only read them through Siri. However, this mini device is a bit like Fitbit, but it allows you to read messages in Braille.

These uedu sequences can be used to read or touch text. The device can display four letters at a time. These letter units are made up of six small small buttons that can be raised.

The device can provide fast readers with speeds of up to 100 letters per second, as well as reading speeds of one word per second for learners.

The watch uses Bluetooth to convert text messages from the app into Braille, which can be used for five days on a single charge.

The company says that Dot can be used as an e-book, and blind people can use it anytime, anywhere.

Although there are now Braille e-books, the $2,000 price is very expensive for many blind people. The company plans to benefit more blind and visually impaired patients. Many blind people find it difficult to read e-books because most of them don't understand Braille.

The device also provides the functionality of a normal watch, such as an alarm clock and navigation. Watches can even be used as teaching tools to gradually teach people with visual impairments to read Braille.

The price of the equipment is expected to be no less than $300.
