Ministry of Health: China's basic system has covered 1.27 billion people

On November 1, China’s Minister of Health Chen Hao stated that as of the end of last year, China’s basic medical security system had covered 1.27 billion people, accounting for 95% of the country’s total population. (Securities Times Online Alert Center)

Chen Hao said that since the start of the new medical reform, the primary health care service system has been further improved and basic medical and health services have been popularized. The government plans to do free surgery for 1 million impoverished cataract patients within three years and has now done more than 900,000 cases.
