Japan temporarily relaxes standards for imported bottled water

Due to insufficient water supply in the metropolitan area, the government requested the Japan Mineral Water Association and the National Refreshing Beverage Industry Association to urge its members to step up production, but the Kanto region’s production capacity is limited. In response, the Ministry of Agriculture, Water, and Consumer Affairs of Japan decided to temporarily relax the sales of mineral water. Water standards, imported from foreign mineral water containers marked on foreign languages, can also be sold to meet market demand.

At present, imported mineral water is sold in stores, and containers are not marked with Japanese. Even domestic mineral water can be sold as long as the manufacturer's and manufacturer's address are marked. As for milk and dairy products, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water considers that the current lack of materials such as transportation fuels and paper packaging, and production stagnation, is actively negotiating with the Ministry of Economy and Production to give priority to supplying fuel to manufacturers.
