China's high-quality agricultural product "Pinggu Peach" is protected by geographical indications in the EU

The reporter learned from the EU Delegation in China that a few days ago, the "Pinggu Peach" genus belonging to the Yanshan region of Beijing's Pinggu District was officially registered in the European Union as a "Protected Appellation of Origin" (PDO). At present, more than a thousand kinds of agricultural products and foods are registered in the European Union as "Protected Appellations of Origin" (PDO) or "Protected Geographical Indications" (PGI), 11 of which are from non-EU countries. In the China-EU pilot project of "10+10" mutual recognition of geographical indication products, China and the EU promised to provide protection for each other's 10 agricultural products, and "Pinggu Da Tao" was the ninth agricultural product in China to be protected by the EU's geographical indications. . Up to now, there is still a registration process for one Chinese product and three European products. The relevant registration procedures for other products of the project have been completed. At the same time, the EU and China are negotiating on the establishment of a bilateral agreement on the protection of geographical indications. From September 13 to 14, 2012, the two sides held the fifth round of negotiations in Brussels.

In addition to Pinggu Peach, other Chinese agricultural products under the China-EU pilot project of "10+10" GI product mutual recognition include: Yancheng Lobster (protected geographical indication), Jinxiang Garlic (protected geographical indication), and Longjing Tea ( Protected Appellation of Origin (PDO), xixi pomelo (protected appellation of origin), shaanxi apple (protected appellation of origin), jiuxian yam yam (protected geographical indication), longkou fan (protected Geographical indications), Zhenjiang balsamic vinegar (protected geographical indications).
